International Removals from Ukraine
Flyto Relocation arranges international removals from Ukraine to destinations across Europe, where and when such a move can realistically be carried out. Ukraine is affected by an ongoing war, and we will not pretend otherwise on a sales page. Whether a particular collection is possible depends on the situation at the time, on exactly where the goods are, and on what partner crews and insurers are able to undertake. That is assessed case by case, before anything is agreed. If we cannot do it, we will say so.
Who this service is for
Most people who ask us about moving belongings out of Ukraine fall into one of three groups.
- Families and individuals already in the EU. You left with what you could carry, you have since settled somewhere in Europe, and the rest of the household is still in an apartment, a house or a relative’s storage in Ukraine.
- Companies relocating staff. An employer moving an employee and their family, and wanting the personal effects handled properly rather than left behind.
- People consolidating a household. Two homes have become one, or a property is being closed up, and the contents need to reach a single address in Europe — or wait in storage until there is one.
Feasibility assessment comes first
We do not quote a removal from Ukraine before we understand the specific case. The first step is an honest assessment of whether the job can be done at all.
What we look at: the precise collection address, access to the building, who will be present to hand over the goods, roughly what volume is involved, and what partner capacity exists on that route at that moment. We then check what insurance cover, if any, is available. Only then do we discuss routing, timing and price.
Some areas may not be serviceable at all. Where that is the case, we will tell you plainly rather than take a booking we cannot deliver. Equally, we will not give a firm collection date we are not confident of holding — schedules on this route stay indicative until a crew is confirmed.
How Flyto works on this route
Flyto Relocation has been arranging international moves since 2018. We operate our own hubs in Northern, Central and Southern Europe and work with vetted partner companies elsewhere. We do not have an office in Ukraine and will not claim one. Ukrainian collections are carried out by partner crews on the ground, coordinated by us and connected into our European hub network.
We arrange transport; we do not own the vehicles or the ships. What we own is the coordination: one point of contact, one file, one set of paperwork, and responsibility for making the parts fit together — partner crew, road carrier, customs brokers, hub handling and delivery.
Road routing and border realities
Movement out of Ukraine is by road. Consignments are typically routed via the western border crossings into Poland, Slovakia, Hungary or Romania, and then onward through our European hub network to the destination country. Air freight is rarely appropriate for household goods here, and there is no practical sea option for most of these moves.
Border waiting times vary and are outside anyone’s control. A crossing that clears in hours one week may take considerably longer the next. We build realistic buffers into planning and keep you informed, but we do not promise transit times we cannot guarantee. Where the destination is far from the border, goods are usually consolidated at a hub and moved onward, which is normally cheaper and more predictable than a dedicated vehicle running door to door.
Customs: Ukraine is outside the EU
Ukraine is not part of the EU customs union, so every removal requires full customs formalities. In practice that means:
- An export declaration on the Ukrainian side and an import declaration in the destination country.
- A detailed, valued inventory of everything being moved. This is not a formality — it is the document customs works from, and a vague list causes delays.
- A customs broker at both ends, which we arrange as part of the service.
- Proof of residence change and identity documents for the owner of the goods.
Most EU destinations offer transfer-of-residence relief on used personal effects where there is a genuine change of residence, subject to conditions on ownership period, prior use and how long after arrival the goods are imported. Several EU states have also applied additional facilitations for people displaced from Ukraine. We cannot tell you what you are entitled to: eligibility and the current rules must be checked with the customs authority in your destination country, and they change. Treat this page as a starting point for that conversation, not as a ruling.
Insurance: what is and is not available
This deserves plain language. Insurance cover for shipments originating in a conflict-affected country is restricted. Standard all-risk cover is not automatically available, and cover for war and related perils is commonly excluded or heavily limited.
What cover can be arranged must be confirmed with the insurer for your specific consignment, route and timing, before you book. We will tell you what has been offered, what it excludes and what the limits are, so you can decide with the facts in front of you. A properly valued inventory matters here too, because it determines what any cover is actually worth.
What drives the cost
We do not publish fixed prices for this route, because a figure that ignores the specifics would mislead. The main cost drivers are:
- Volume — the single largest factor. Cubic metres, not weight, drive most of the price.
- Collection location and the distance from it to the border crossing used.
- Access at the collection address: floor, lift, parking distance, whether a shuttle vehicle is needed.
- Packing — full packing by the crew, partial packing, or goods packed by you.
- Dedicated vehicle versus consolidated groupage, and how much schedule flexibility you have.
- Customs brokerage at both ends, and any duties or taxes if relief does not apply.
- Insurance, at whatever level proves available.
- Storage, if the goods need to wait in Europe.
- Delivery conditions at the destination address.
A firm figure requires a case-by-case assessment. We would rather give you one number that holds than a low number that changes later.
Storage in Europe
Many customers on this route do not yet have a permanent address. Goods can be brought into the EU, cleared, and held at one of our European hubs until you are ready to receive them. Customs relief conditions in some countries are time-linked, so storing goods before or after clearance is a decision to take with the broker rather than by default.
