Spain owns the map

No other country places more than two cities in the top 20 — Spain places five (Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, Málaga, Alicante), with Torrevieja just outside at #21. Crucially, four of those are coastal/Costa cities rather than the capital, which tells you the demand is lifestyle-led: sun, sea and lower living costs, not only career moves. It is the city-level fingerprint of the same Mediterranean pull seen in our net-migration data.

Capitals and the northern hubs

London remains a top-two magnet despite Brexit, and the northern and central capitals — Berlin, Paris, Stockholm, Oslo, Vienna, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Brussels, Warsaw — all draw steady demand, typically job-, study- and family-driven. Zürich represents the high-value Swiss corridor.

Methodology

Based on Flyto Relocation enquiries that named a destination city (city coverage ~98% of enquiries; test records excluded). City names were normalised — accents removed, sub-region and country suffixes stripped, variants merged — and grouped with the destination country. Figures reflect relocation demand (where people ask to move), not a census of completed moves. Two honest caveats: (1) Flyto’s customer base skews toward cross-border private moves and toward its Finnish home market, which lifts Helsinki (and Espoo, #22) above where a pan-European census would place them; (2) counts are enquiry volumes, not population statistics. Reviewed by the Flyto relocation team, 2026, and refreshed as the dataset grows.
