What should I know before moving to Poland?
Poland joined the EU on 1 May 2004 and Schengen on 21 December 2007. The currency is the Polish złoty (PLN — not the euro); standard VAT is 23%. Public health insurance is run by NFZ (Narodowy Fundusz Zdrowia). Major banks: PKO BP, Pekao, mBank. Warsaw, Kraków, Łódź and Wrocław are the largest relocation hubs — for finance, tech, manufacturing and university roles.
How does a move from Poland to another country usually work?
Moves leaving Poland involve a detailed inventory, route planning, and — for non-EU destinations (UK, Switzerland, Norway, USA, Canada) — a T1 transit document plus an import declaration at destination. EU moves need no customs forms. For permanent relocations, we also help notify KAS (Krajowa Administracja Skarbowa) of your departure.
What does an international relocation involving Poland typically include?
Whether your move starts in Poland or ends here, we take care of packing, loading, transport planning, customs support and home delivery — making the process organised and predictable.
What are the most common destinations people move to from Poland?
Popular relocation routes include Poland–Germany, Poland–Netherlands, Poland–Sweden, Poland–UK and Poland–France. Many long-distance moves also go to the USA and Canada.
How long do international moves to or from Poland take?
European road moves: 2–6 days. Examples: Warsaw → Berlin ~1 day, Warsaw → Amsterdam 1–2 days, Kraków → Vienna 1 day, Wrocław → Munich 1 day. Overseas: 3–6 weeks by sea container, 7–10 days by air freight for urgent loads.
Do I need customs documents when relocating internationally?
EU-to-EU moves don’t need customs forms. Non-EU destinations (UK, Switzerland, Norway, USA, Canada) need a T1 transit document, a detailed inventory in English, and an import declaration at destination. For personal-effects duty relief, proof of residence change is required.
Can I bring my belongings into Poland duty-free?
From any EU country: yes, free movement applies. From outside the EU: personal household goods imported within 12 months of changing residence to Poland are duty-free under EU Regulation 1186/2009, provided you have owned them for at least 6 months and they are for personal use.
Are there restricted items when entering Poland?
Yes. Poland restricts items such as weapons, alcohol, certain food products, plants and specific electronics. We provide a clear checklist based on what you plan to bring.
Do I need to register after moving to Poland?
Yes. New residents register their address (meldunek) at the local Urząd Miasta / Urząd Gminy. Non-EU citizens also need a residence permit from Urząd ds. Cudzoziemców (Office for Foreigners). EU/EEA citizens can move freely but should still register if staying longer than 3 months. We prepare the documents and book appointments.
Does Flyto help with local moves inside Poland?
Yes. Through our trusted network, we support local moves in Warsaw, Kraków, Gdańsk, Wrocław, Poznań, Łódź and surrounding regions.
Do you deliver everywhere in Poland, including rural areas?
Absolutely. We deliver across the country — from major cities to small towns and remote countryside locations.
Should I take additional moving insurance for Poland?
Extra insurance is recommended for valuable or fragile items, especially for long international journeys. We can arrange suitable coverage if needed.
