❓ FAQ
European relocation, answered
Which European countries does Flyto Relocation cover?
We operate across 18 European countries, with main hubs in Helsinki (Finland), Oslo (Norway), Düsseldorf (Germany) and Málaga (Spain). Local partner offices support every move from origin to destination in the Nordics, DACH, BeNeLux, British Isles, Southern Europe and Eastern Europe.
Do moves inside the EU need customs paperwork?
No. The EU customs union means goods move freely between member states. Schengen membership additionally removes routine border checks for road transports. Moves between EU countries don’t require T1 transit documents or customs declarations.
What about moves to the UK, Switzerland or Norway?
The UK left the EU on 31 January 2020 (Single Market 31 December 2020). Switzerland is outside the EU customs union. Norway is in the EEA but outside the EU customs union. All three need a T1 transit document plus an import declaration. The UK additionally requires ToR1 (Transfer of Residence) approval for duty-free import of personal effects.
Can I bring my household goods duty-free when relocating to the EU?
Yes, under EU Regulation 1186/2009, personal household goods imported within 12 months of a residence change to the EU are duty-free, provided you have owned them for at least 6 months and they are for personal use. We file the supporting documents on your behalf.
How do I choose between Silver, Gold and Platinum?
Silver — box-only or smaller moves, one driver assists with carrying and transport. Gold (most popular) — full home moves with 2–3 professional movers handling loading, transport and unloading. Platinum — full-service with professional packing and unpacking, all materials provided. Our team helps pick the right tier on a free moving survey.
What insurance is included for cross-border moves?
Standard transit insurance is included on every Flyto package and covers your belongings while in transit. For high-value items or longer overseas routes, we recommend optional all-risk cover. Both options are quoted up front — no surprises.
Does Flyto have multilingual staff?
Yes. Our coordination team and partner offices speak English plus the local languages of each hub — Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, German, Dutch, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, Estonian and more. You always have a contact who speaks your language and understands local rules.
Can Flyto help with residence registration after the move?
Yes — settling-in support is part of every move. Depending on the destination, we coordinate registrations like the German Anmeldung, Dutch BRP, French carte de séjour, Finnish DVV, UK council tax registration, Spanish empadronamiento and more. Local-language paperwork handled by our destination office.
