3. Transport
Depending on the destination, your goods travel by road, sea or air. We match the mode to the route, your budget and your timeline (see the table below).
4. Customs and documentation
For non-EU destinations we prepare the export and import paperwork with you. Moves within the EU need far less, thanks to the single market.
5. Delivery
At destination your goods are delivered, and where you have booked it, unpacked and reassembled. Vetted local partners handle the final leg at overseas destinations, coordinated by our team.

Moves to other EU countries
Because Germany and the destination are both in the EU single market, these moves are customs-free and usually travel by road. A dedicated van or truck suits larger households and door-to-door timing, while groupage (sharing truck space with other consignments) is a cost-effective choice for smaller loads that can flex on dates. Popular EU routes from Germany include France, the Netherlands, Austria, Spain, Italy and the Nordics.
Moves to non-EU and overseas destinations
For destinations outside the EU, such as the UK, the US, Canada, Australia, the Gulf or Asia, goods normally travel by sea freight. A full 20ft or 40ft container is best for whole households; LCL groupage (less than container load) suits smaller volumes. Air freight is available when speed matters or volume is very small, at a premium price. These moves require export and import customs clearance, which we manage with you.

There is no honest one-size-fits-all price for an international removal, so treat any headline figure with caution. The real cost of your move is shaped by:
- Volume — the cubic metres you ship (the biggest factor).
- Distance and destination — a neighbouring EU country costs far less than an intercontinental sea move.
- Transport mode — road versus sea versus air, and dedicated versus groupage.
- Services — packing, dismantling, storage, insurance and any port or access charges.
- Season — peak summer months and month-ends carry higher demand.
As a rough guide only, a modest EU road move of a small flat can run into the low four figures in euros, while a full-household intercontinental sea shipment typically runs into several thousand euros. Your firm quote depends on your exact volume, addresses and dates.
Customs when leaving Germany
Moving within the EU is straightforward: there is no customs formality on your household goods because Germany and your destination share the single market. Moving to a non-EU destination means we prepare an export declaration in Germany and the import documentation for the arrival country, which usually asks for an inventory, proof of residence change and sometimes evidence that items are used personal effects. Getting this right avoids costly delays at the border or port.
Timelines
EU road moves are typically completed within days of collection. Overseas sea shipments take several weeks in transit plus time for customs at both ends, so plan ahead, especially around the busy summer period. Air freight compresses transit to days but at a much higher cost per cubic metre.
Insurance and storage
We strongly recommend transit insurance covering the replacement value of your goods, particularly on longer overseas routes where handling is greater. If your timelines do not line up, secure storage is available in origin or destination regions, so you can move out before your new home is ready or bridge a gap during a container sailing.
