Moving from the UK or another non-EU country. Since Brexit, moves from the UK are treated as third-country imports. The good news is that Austria offers transfer-of-residence relief, known locally as Übersiedlungsgut. If you are moving your normal place of residence to Austria, having lived outside the EU for at least 12 months and owned and used the goods for at least six months, your personal belongings can be imported free of duty and import VAT.
