International Removals to Estonia (2026)

International Removals to Estonia (2026)

Estonia is one of Europe’s most rewarding places to relocate: a small, hyper-digital nation where a two-hour ferry links Tallinn to Helsinki and everyday bureaucracy happens online. Whether you are moving to Tallinn for a start-up role, settling in the university city of Tartu, or bringing a household across the Baltic to join Estonia’s fast-growing digital-nomad and e-Residency community, the physical move still has to be planned properly. Flyto Relocation manages international removals to Estonia end to end, so your belongings arrive on time, undamaged and fully accounted for.

We are a European international mover with our own hubs across Northern, Central and Southern Europe and a particularly strong Nordic and Baltic base. That matters for Estonia: the busiest corridor into the country runs from Finland across the Helsinki–Tallinn ferry, a route we run constantly. Instead of handing your move to a chain of unknown subcontractors, you get one coordinator, one plan and door-to-door delivery.

How Flyto works: our hubs, trusted partners, one coordinator

We believe in being honest about how the move actually happens, because that transparency is exactly why customers choose us. Flyto does not operate an office inside Estonia, and we will never pretend otherwise. What we do operate is a network of our own European hubs and crews, backed by carefully vetted local partners for the final leg and for any overseas origin.

For most European moves into Estonia, your goods travel by road on our own vehicles and cross the Baltic by ferry — typically the Helsinki–Tallinn crossing, a roughly two-hour sailing served every day of the year, or another Baltic ferry link depending on your origin. If you are moving from outside Europe, we arrange sea or air freight through partners we have vetted and worked with repeatedly. Throughout, a single Flyto coordinator owns your file, quotes you one price and keeps you updated. “Hubs plus partners, one point of contact” is not a compromise — it is the cleanest way to move a household across borders.

Our removal services to Estonia

We handle the full range of international removal needs:

  • Door-to-door removals — we collect from your current home anywhere in Europe and deliver inside your Estonian home, not to a depot or kerbside.
  • Full and part loads — a dedicated vehicle for a whole house, or a shared/part load when you are moving a flat or a few rooms.
  • Professional packing — full or partial packing, export-grade materials, and special crating for artwork, instruments and fragile items.
  • Storage — secure short- or long-term storage if your Tallinn or Tartu home is not ready on moving day.
  • Furniture dismantling and reassembly — beds, wardrobes and flat-pack handled by the crew at both ends.

Every move is fully insured, and our English-speaking team briefs you on exactly what your cover includes before collection.

What international removals to Estonia cost

We do not publish flat prices, because an honest quote depends on your specific move. The main cost drivers are:

  • Volume — how many cubic metres you are shipping, i.e. full house versus a one-bed flat.
  • Distance and origin — a move from Finland or the Nordics costs very differently from one from Spain, the UK or overseas.
  • The ferry leg — the Baltic crossing (usually Helsinki–Tallinn) is a real, priced component of a road move into Estonia, and we build it into your quote transparently.
  • Services — packing, storage, dismantling, access issues (stairs, long carries, permits) and any customs handling for non-EU origins.

Tell our advisor what you are moving and from where, and you will get a clear written quote with the ferry and every service itemised — no vague estimates, no surprises on delivery day.

Customs and registration when moving to Estonia

Your customs situation depends entirely on where you are moving from.

Moving from within the EU (for example Finland, Germany, Spain or another member state): your household goods move under EU free movement. There is no customs clearance and no import duty on used personal belongings. This is the simplest case and covers most of our Estonian moves.

Moving from outside the EU (for example the UK post-Brexit, or any non-EU country): you can usually import your used personal belongings free of import duty and VAT under Estonia’s transfer-of-residence relief, administered by the Estonian Tax and Customs Board. The core conditions are that your permanent residence has been continuously outside the EU for at least 12 months, that the goods are your own used household effects, and that they are imported within 12 months of you establishing residence in Estonia. You will need a full valued inventory in English, which our packing crew helps you prepare. The relief does not cover alcohol, tobacco, commercial vehicles or items for professional use.

Residence and registration — an important distinction. Estonia’s famous e-Residency is a digital identity that lets non-residents run an EU company online. It is not a residence permit and does not give you the right to live in Estonia. To actually move there you need a legal basis to reside — an EU right of residence, or a residence permit if you are a non-EU national — and you must register your residence in the Population Register, which is when you receive your isikukood (personal identification code), the 11-digit code that unlocks banking, healthcare and everyday admin. Sort your residence status before your goods arrive; we can time delivery around it.

Why choose Flyto for your Estonian move

  • 4.9 rating from 500+ reviews — a track record built on moves that actually go to plan.
  • Genuine Baltic expertise — the Finland–Estonia ferry corridor and wider Baltic routes are core business for us, not an occasional job.
  • Door-to-door and fully insured — one crew ethos from your old home to your new one, with proper cover throughout.
  • English-speaking coordinators — clear communication at every step, with one named contact who owns your move.
  • Honest model — our own European hubs plus vetted partners, transparently explained, never oversold.

How long does a move to Estonia take?

Timing depends on origin. A road-and-ferry move from Finland or the Nordics is one of the fastest international removals in Europe — often just a few days, given the short Helsinki–Tallinn crossing. From Central or Southern Europe, expect roughly one to two weeks door to door on a scheduled route, faster with a dedicated vehicle. Overseas sea freight typically runs several weeks. Your coordinator gives you a realistic window in writing once volume, origin and services are confirmed.

Frequently asked questions

Does Flyto have an office in Estonia?

No, and we are upfront about that. We move to Estonia using our own European hubs and crews plus vetted local partners for the final leg, all coordinated by one Flyto contact. You get local capability without a middleman chain.

How do my belongings actually reach Estonia?

For European moves, by road on our vehicles and across the Baltic by ferry — most often the two-hour Helsinki–Tallinn crossing. From outside Europe, we arrange sea or air freight through partners we have worked with before.

Will I pay customs duty moving from the UK to Estonia?

Because the UK is now outside the EU, your move needs customs clearance, but used personal belongings usually qualify for Estonia’s transfer-of-residence relief and enter free of duty and VAT if you meet the conditions. You will need a full valued inventory in English, which we help prepare.

Do I need residence status before I move my things?

You should sort your legal right to reside first. e-Residency is only a digital business identity — it does not let you live in Estonia. You need an EU right of residence or a residence permit, plus registration in the Population Register to get your isikukood personal code.

Can you move just a partial load or a few rooms?

Yes. We offer part and shared loads for flats and smaller moves, so you only pay for the space you use, as well as dedicated full loads for whole houses.

Do you move to Tartu and other cities, not just Tallinn?

Yes. We deliver door-to-door across Estonia, including Tallinn, Tartu and smaller towns. Access details simply feed into your quote and delivery plan.
